Last year's Sant Narcís de Girona Fairs broke attendance records and reached their highest turnout in the last 10 years. This year, they're back from 27 October to 5 November with a programme packed with events, music and fun. Check out the most important events on the programme!
The events of the Sant Narcís Fairs will begin on 27 October at 17:45h with parades in different parts of the city where the giants and big-heads of Girona will parade, followed by the well-known dance of the giants and at 19:15h the proclamation of the festivities in the Plaça del Vi.
On Sunday 29 October at 11:30 am there will be a castellera day in the Plaça del Vi with Els Marrecs del Salt, Els Minyons de Terrassa and Els Capgrossos de Mataró. And on Wednesday 1 November, Els Marrecs de Salt, the oldest castellera group in the province of Girona, will once again climb a pillar of four up the steps of the Cathedral.
Sardanes can also be enjoyed on Saturday 28 October at 12 noon on Passeig Francina Boris; on Wednesday 1 November at 11 am in Plaça Francesc Calvet i Rubalcaba and at 5 pm in the Auditori de la Mercè, and on Saturday 4 November at 11 am in Plaça Claudi Girbal and at 5 pm in Plaça del Vi.
During these days, there will be all kinds of games, activities, shows and concerts for children and families. In addition to all this, exhibitions and markets will also be held in different parts of the city.
As is tradition, the Sant Narcís Fairs will end on Sunday 5 November with a spectacular fireworks display by Pirotecnia Valenciana in the Ribes del Ter park, which can be seen from different parts of the town.
As usual, in the Devesa Park there will be a wide variety of fairground stalls and rides, as well as one of the highest Ferris wheels in Europe. On Thursday 2 November from 5pm there will be a 2 for 1 offer on all fairground rides.
The concerts of the Sant Narcís festival in Girona will take place from 27 October to 5 November on the esplanade of La Copa and in Migdia Park.
The esplanade of the Copa will feature an 8-day music programme with performances by 20 established groups from the national and international scene, as well as up-and-coming acts.
The first week of concerts at the Copa will begin on Friday 27 October at 22:30h with performances by the punk rock band Crim and the American ska punk band Mad Caddies. On Saturday 28 October at 22:30h you can enjoy the performances of the international Not Scientists, Johnny Mafia and The Holy Sinners. And on Sunday 29 October at 22:30h the singer Mariona Escoda and the band Ginestà will be performing.
The second week of concerts will begin on 31 October at 22:30h and will feature performances by the singer Queralt Lahoz, the band Ketekalles and the musical project Tarquim. On Wednesday 1 November, coinciding with All Saints' Day, the cover band Orquestra Maribel will perform at 6pm. On Thursday 2 November at 22:30h the rap groups Los Chikos del Maíz and Vichy Flock will be performing.
On Friday 3 November, the Valencian group La Fumiga, the artist from the "Eufòria" programme Triquell and the group Lalba will perform, and on Saturday 4 November, the concerts will be closed by the Valencian groups Zoo, Auxili and Smoking Souls.
In addition to the concerts on the esplanade of the Copa, there will also be concerts in the Migdia Park. On Saturday 28 October at 12h there will be a concert with Orquestra Maravella, on Sunday 29 October at 19:30h Pep Gimeno "Botifarra" + Verdcel will be performing, on Tuesday 31 October also at 19:30h Orchestral Soul Society + Hip Horns Brass Collective will be performing.
On Wednesday 1 November at 5 pm Les Anxovetes and Grup Xató will be on stage, on Friday 3 November at 8 pm Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra + Muchacho y los sobrinos will be performing and on Saturday 4 November at 12 noon there will be a concert by Orquestra Selvatana and at 7 pm, a glosa combat + concert by Fetus.
This year, a total of 19 organisations will have a bar on the esplanade of the Copa to sell snacks and drinks. They will be open for 10 days, from 27th to 29th October and from 1st to 4th November until 5am, and on 30th October and 5th November until 12 midnight.
After three years of musical programming, the Migdia Park has become consolidated as a fixed stage for the fairs and will also have a bar to serve food and drink during the concerts.
All the bars will be managed by a non-profit civic, cultural or sporting entity, association or organisation from the city of Girona.
