If you are planning your getaway on the Costa Brava for this summer and want to discover the city of Lloret de Mar, in this post we bring you the perfect guide to get to know the town in just two days. Discover the best things to see and do in Lloret de Mar!
Morning
As soon as you arrive in Lloret de Mar, we advise you to go to one of the three tourist offices in the city, located at the entrance to the town (Avinguda de les Alegries, 3), the Museu del Mar (Passeig Camprodon i Arrieta, 1) and the bus station (Avinguda Vila de Blanes, 37). One of the best ways to get to know Lloret de Mar is touring the center of the municipality, where the Church of Sant Romà (Plaça de l’Església, 4) is located, a spectacular Gothic-Modernist style church reformed by the Indians. It can be visited every day from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Then, you can continue until you reach Plaça de la Vila and Passeig Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer, located just in front of Lloret de Mar beach.
To eat, facing the sea you will find a varied gastronomic offer, where you can taste from the most traditional restaurants to the most international gastronomy.
Afternoon
In the afternoon, we recommend you go back to the city center to discover Can Font (Carrer de Sant Carles, 16), the only Indian-style public house-museum that remains in Catalonia, built in 1887 commissioned by Nicolau Font. i Maig. You can continue this cultural route by visiting the modernist cemetery of Lloret de Mar, one of the main examples of funeral art from the 19th century in Catalonia.
And if you have time and are interested in the history of Lloret de Mar, you can also take the opportunity to visit the Museu del Mar (Passeig de Camprodon i Arrieta, 2), a space with exhibitions on the maritime history of the city.
For dinner, both in the town center and on the seafront, you will find an atmosphere and quality restaurants throughout the year. If you want to try one of the most popular restaurants in the city, our recommendation is Panxos restaurant (Av. Frederic Mistral, 14), a Mexican cuisine restaurant located in the center of the town.
Evening
Although the climate of Lloret de Mar is usually warm and mild during most of the year, summer nights, with maximum temperatures of 30º and minimum of 16º, are perfect for going out for a drink. In Cala Banys you will find a fantastic beach bar with sea views and delicious cocktails.
Morning
One of the main attractions of Lloret de Mar are its beaches and the best way to get to know them is by doing one of the GR-92 that run through the municipality.
We recommend the section from Lloret de Mar to the town of Blanes, located to the south of the municipality. This 8.5-kilometre route borders the entire coast and runs through some of the most beautiful beaches in Lloret de Mar, such as Cala Banys, Fenals beach, Sa Boadella, Santa Cristina beach and Cala Treumal.
You can also take the opportunity to visit the Santa Clotilde Gardens (Passeig Jardins s/n), gardens of more than 25,000 m2 that follow the Italian Renaissance model, located on a cliff with spectacular views of the sea. They open at 10 a.m. from Monday to Sunday and admission costs €6 for adults, €3 with the reduced rate and children under 12 and residents with a MOLL card enter for free.
To find out all the details about the GR-92 that run through the city, you can consult our post about the sections of the GR-92 in Lloret de Mar. To recharge your batteries after this route, we recommend eating at Can Sabata (Av. Camí de l’Àngel, 24), a restaurant specializing in rice dishes and Catalan cuisine.
Afternoon
There is no better way to say goodbye to Lloret de Mar than walking one last time along its beaches. Between Lloret de Mar beach and Cala Banys you will find the Mirador de la Dona Marinera (Carrer de Josep Tarradellas, 5-7). In it is the monument to the Dona Marinera, a sculpture of 2.40 meters created by the Catalan sculptor Ernest Maragall, as well as one of the best panoramic views of the Costa Brava. According to legend, anyone who touches the foot of the statue looking at the horizon will see all his wishes come true.
You also cannot miss the Castell d’en Plaja (Carrer Costa d’en Josep Macià, 5), in the Sa Caleta cove, one of the most emblematic buildings in Lloret de Mar, the work of the architect Isidor Bosch i Bataller and property of the businessman Narcís Plaja Martí.
