On Sunday, November 19, the 3rd edition of the Corriols de l'Àvia bicycle ride will be held in Lloret de Mar, organized by the Penya Ciclista Lloret and supported by the Catalan Cycling Federation (FCC). The test will have two distances, a shorter one of 26 kilometers and a longer one of 35 kilometers, which can be done on a mountain bike or electric mountain bike.
As usual, the march will consist of two routes:
- Short distance: 26 kilometers and 700 meters of positive slope.
- Long distance: 35 kilometers and 1,100 meters of positive gradient.
The route, which will take place along paths and greenways in the town of Lloret de Mar, will be signposted for the test, so the use of GPS is not necessary. There will also be different liquid and solid supplies during the test.
Registration to participate in the cycling march is now open and will end on Sunday, November 12 at 11:59 p.m. or when the 500 available places are filled.
The test is open to all those who want to participate if they are over 10 years old. Minors must have written authorization from their father, mother, or legal guardian as they are allowed to participate.
The registration price is the same for both distances. For participants federated to the Catalan Cycling Federation (FCC) it is €18 and for non-federated participants, who will also have to fill out the one-day license that includes the insurance provided by the organization, it is €21.
Registrations are strictly personal and non-transferable. Therefore, if a participant cannot compete, the registration fee will not be refunded.
This year, the organization commits to respecting the environment and providing reusable paper cups and ribbons. They will also put containers at the arrival to throw away the plastic/paper of the gels and bars at the end of the test. Participants who throw plastic or paper from gels or bars in the forest will be excluded from the time trial and the draws.
The collection of race numbers will take place the day before the race between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (location pending confirmation) or on the day of the race between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. at the starting point.
The departure will be at 9am at the Water World water park in Lloret de Mar, although it will be a slightly different departure than usual, as it will pass through inside the park. The arrival will also take place at this point in the town.
During the competition, participants must comply with the schedules proposed by the organization at the different crossing points to not be excluded from the test. The closing of the first supply station, which is precisely the point at which the two distances diverge, will take place at 12:00 p.m. and the closing of the control at the last point will be at 1:00 p.m.
Once the race is over, the organizers will make a Kärcher available to participants to clean the bicycles, courtesy of Water World, and prizes will also be awarded for the different categories.
