The Teatre de Lloret is ready to raise the curtain once again. The new autumn season, running until December, features around thirty shows and ten film screenings, combining theatre, music, dance, comedy, film and family activities.
This season is also particularly meaningful for this cultural venue in Lloret de Mar, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy performances by acclaimed figures from the Catalan arts scene and discover the initiatives of local cultural organisations.
Located in Plaça de Germinal Ros, next to Can Saragossa Park and just a few minutes from the centre of Lloret de Mar, the Teatre de Lloret is one of the town's most important cultural institutions.
The building was created to establish a high-quality performing arts programme for Lloret de Mar and the surrounding area. As a public cultural facility, the theatre aims to be an open space for the community, hosting both major productions and initiatives by local artists, companies and organisations.
Since its opening in November 2011 with Òpera Marina, the theatre has staged theatre, dance, music, opera, cinema, circus and puppet shows. It has a large 270-square-metre stage, three rehearsal rooms and seating for 415 people, with some retractable seats that allow the space to be adapted for different kinds of activities.
Alongside its artistic programme, the Teatre de Lloret supports Catalan artistic creation, contemporary theatre, family productions, dance and circus, with a commitment to accessibility, the promotion of the Catalan language and cultural diversity.
On 28 November, the Teatre de Lloret will celebrate its 15-year history, having established itself as a cultural landmark in Lloret de Mar and the southern Costa Brava.
The programme for this season combines professional productions with activities by cultural organisations and groups in Lloret de Mar, including Ja Cobrarem, Casal de l’Obrera, Amics de la Música, Òmnium Selva Marítima, Associació Hispano Americana and Cor Ars Nova.
The season's highlights include:
16 October, 8 pm - El substitut, with Pep Plaza. A comedy monologue in which the actor and impersonator looks back over his artistic career. Price: €22.
24 October, 6 pm - Els Superherois i la gran aventura. A free family show in Plaça de Germinal Ros.
30 October, 8 pm - Göteborg, by Jordi Casanovas, with Maria Molins and Roger Coma. A romantic thriller about memories, relationships and secrets from the past. Price: €24.
8 November, 6 pm - Closing event for the 75th anniversary of Casal de l'Obrera, with performances, comedy and memories from the organisation. Price: €5.
21 November, 8 pm - Tu em vas prometre una història d'amor, a comedy by Helena Tornero, directed by Israel Solà. Price: €22.
22 November, 12 noon - La Tempesta, by the Zero en Conducta company. A family theatre production. Price: €8.
5 December, 8 pm - I say potato, with Anna Moliner and Joan Negrié. A comedy about loneliness, the passing of time and relationships that never quite disappear. Price: €16.
20 December, 6 pm - Honestedat, by Francesc Cuéllar, starring Miriam Iscla and Dafnis Balduz. A play that reflects on boundaries, respect and consent. Price: €22.
The season also features events from the Montphoto festival, screenings organised by Cineclub Adler, family shows, concerts and free outdoor activities. In addition, to mark the 80th anniversary of Montserrat Roig's birth, the Teatre de Lloret, the Lloret de Mar Library and the Can Gallissà bookshop are organising a series dedicated to the writer. The programme includes the show Estimada Montserrat, encara que sigui mentida, by Amargura Cultura, readings of her texts and a talk by Joan Casas i Fuster.
