The festa major of Sant Romà will be held from Friday 8th to Sunday 24th November in the town of Lloret de Mar. During these days, all kinds of activities and events will take place to celebrate the town's winter festivities. Read on to find out more!
The proclamation of the festivities, the event that kicks off the festa major of Sant Romà in Lloret de Mar, will be held on Friday 11th November at 8.00 pm in the Exhibition Hall of the Lloret de Mar Library. On Saturday 16th at 5pm, a parade of percussion and giants will take place through the streets of the town centre to the Museu del Mar (Museum of the Sea).
On the weekend of 16 and 17 November, from 10:30 am to 22 pm, the traditional Lloret de Mar Medieval Fair will be held on Passeig de Jacint Verdaguer, Plaça de la Vila and Lloret de Mar's seafront promenade. One of the most eagerly awaited activities of the autumn season, with performances of legends, magic, craft stalls and demonstrations of ancient trades, among others.
On Monday 18 November at 11:00 am, coinciding with the feast of Sant Romà Martyr, a solemn mass will be held in his honour in the parish church of Lloret de Mar with choral singing and organ accompaniment. At the end of the mass, there will be sardanes (typical regional dance) and a choral performance in the square by the Unió Coral Lloretenca.
The first concert of the festivities will take place on Friday 15 November at 8 p.m. at Hotel Evenia by the Montgrinsorchestra. At 11 pm, in the same venue, this orchestra will also be in charge of the festa major dance.
And from 9 pm onwards, in the Germinal Ros square (near the Lloret de Mar Municipal Market), the "nit jove" concerts will begin with performances by Alex Escort, Azúcar Moreno, Piratas Rumbersions and Dj Tramma.
On Saturday 16 November from 21h in the Germinal Ros square, the second night of the "nit jove" will be celebrated with the performances of Teoria del Qua, La Fúmiga, Banda Neon and Bacardit Dj.
Admission to all these concerts and performances of the festa major of Sant Romà is free of charge.
On Saturday 9th November at 11:30 am, in the Children's Room of the Library, there will be a reading of stories with music, songs and puppets, by Alma. This activity is aimed at families with children from 1 to 3 years old. And at 5.30pm at the Theatre of Lloret de Mar, the activity My First Film Festival, organised by the Cineclub Adler and aimed at children aged 2 to 12, will be held.
On Sunday 17th November at 12:00h at the ‘barraquetes’ in the Plaça de Germinal Ros, a children's show will be performed by the Ambauka group.
From Friday 8th to Monday 18th November, a funfair will be set up in the car park of the Lloret de Mar sports area.
From 18 to 22 November, the Cruyff space will host the #ExperienciaINCIBE, an interactive activity with virtual reality glasses designed to raise awareness among teenagers and adults about the risks on social networks. Admission is free for children aged 14 and over, in the afternoon, and throughout Saturday. This event is organised by INCIBE with the collaboration of El Puntet.
On Saturday 16th November at 15 pm, the second day of the Catalan swimming league in the alevin category, organised by Club Natació Lloret, will be held at the Lloret Municipal Swimming Pool.
On Sunday 17 November at 10 am a chess tournament will be held at El Puntet (Av. de Vidreres, 58). The competition is organised by the Club d'Escacs Lloret and the entry fee is 5€.
The same day will also see the 4th edition of the Corriols de l'Àvia cycle ride, organised by the Penya Ciclista Lloret. The event has two distances (25 or 37 kilometres) and can be done by mountain bike or electric mountain bike. For more information, see our our post about this edition of Corriols de l'Àvia.
On Saturday 9th November at 11 am there will be a guided tour of the castle of Sant Joan and a guided tour with wine tasting in Sant Pere del Bosc. On Sunday 10th November, at 10 am, there will be an Indian route with a visit to the Can Font house museum (in Spanish), and at 12 pm, a guided tour of the Iberian settlement of Turó Rodó. On Saturday 16th November at 11 am, the visit with wine tasting in Sant Pere del Bosc will be repeated, and on Sunday 17th November at 10 am, the Indian route with a visit to the Can Font house museum will take place again.
The Indian route with a visit to the Can Font house museum costs 5€ and the guided tour with wine tasting in Sant Pere del Bosc costs 15€.
On Monday 18th November there will be an open day at the Museu del Mar (Museum of the Sea), the Iberian Settlement of Turó Rodó, the Castle of Sant Joan, the Masía de Can Saragossa and the Gardens of Santa Clotilde. During this day, each of these spaces will be open to visitors during their usual opening hours and without the need to book in advance.
