What to do in Lloret de Mar in spring

What to do in Lloret de Mar in spring

23.03.2023 Activities in Lloret

Spring is one of the best seasons to visit Lloret de Mar. Despite filling up with tourists during the summer months, this time of year is the perfect time to explore the town in a relaxed way. Pleasant temperatures, empty beaches, streets without crowds... Come and enjoy the tranquillity of Lloret de Mar in spring!

Stroll through the Santa Clotilde Gardens

One of the most romantic and magical corners of Lloret de Mar is the Santa Clotilde Gardens, inspired by the romantic Italian gardens of the Renaissance era, with labyrinthine architecture with fountains, statues, a lake, and native Mediterranean vegetation.

They are located on a cliff between Fenals beach and Sa Boadella beach, a space surrounded by nature where you can relax with views of the Costa Brava and the Mediterranean Sea that will take your breath away.

The gardens, designed by the landscape architect Nicolau Rubió i Tudurí, began to be built in 1919 at the request of the Marquis de Roviralta. They are named Clotilde in honor of his first wife, Clotilde Rocamora.

In 1927, the young Clotilde died and the works were paralyzed until two years later, when the marquis met his second wife. Construction ended after the Spanish Civil War and the gardens belonged to the Roviralta family until 1997, when the City Council decided to acquire them, reform them and convert them into municipal heritage.

Walk the Camí de Ronda

When the good weather begins to arrive and the sun is still too hot, it is one of the best times to go for a walk near the sea.

In the town of Lloret de Mar, there are two paths that border the coast, also known as Camins de Ronda. They are called that because they were previously used by the Civil Guard to do the rounds, that is, to control the Spanish maritime border and prevent smuggling.

These paths lead to the towns of Tossa de Mar and Blanes, located to the north and south of the town of Lloret de Mar, respectively. Both routes are very popular among the locals, the one in Tossa de Mar for being one of the most beautiful towns in the south of the Costa Brava, and the one in Blanes for going through the paths and forests typical of the Mediterranean landscape.

Along the way, you will be able to enjoy incredible views of the Costa Brava and even take a dip in the beaches and coves that you will find along the way!

Enjoy the empty beaches of the Costa Brava

Finding a spot on the beach in summer is a rather complicated task, but in spring it is a real treat. The large beaches in the center of the town and somewhat less accessible coves are practically empty during this time of year.

One of the quietest corners of Lloret de Mar to lie down to read or simply sunbathe is Sa Caleta beach, a small cove full of fishing boats located at the end of the promenade, at the foot of Castillo d'en plaja.

One of the most remote beaches in Lloret de Mar is the Santa Cristina beach, located to the south of the town. At the southern end of this beach, between two rocks, is another of the lesser-known beaches in the town, Cala Treumal.

Take the opportunity to grab a towel, a book, and sun cream and lie down for a while on the sand of a beach away from the crowds in the privileged setting of the Costa Brava.

Visit the modernist heritage

A good opportunity to visit the modernist heritage of Lloret de Mar at your own pace is in spring when there are not large crowds of tourists in every corner of the town.

One of the buildings that are worth visiting during this time is the Church of San Romà, located in the centre of the town. It reflects two very different periods of construction and architecture: Gothic, due to its construction, and Modernist, due to a subsequent reform.

Other essential spaces to visit without tourists are the Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer promenade and the Lloret de Mar Town Hall, located in front of the Lloret de Mar beach. Although if you want to discover what modernist houses were really like, a visit to Can Font is essential.
