The local market of Lloret de Mar, located at number 37, Sénia del Rabic street, is a large permanent and covered market where you can find fresh food such as fruits, vegetables, fish and meat daily. In addition, it also has a pharmacy, a hairdresser, a bakery, a bar, a florist and even a beauty salon.
The opening hours of the market are from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays also in the afternoon, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It has its own parking and is adapted for people with disabilities.
The local market facilities were opened in 1982, more than 40 years ago, and over time the local market has ceased to offer the competitive standards it offered at its inception.
For this reason, this 2023 a comprehensive remodelling of the space will be carried out, which will have a floor dedicated to commercial activity and another with a space where all kinds of activities and gastronomic events will take place.
With the aim of revitalizing the city's local market and publicizing its comprehensive remodelling, the Lloret de Mar City Council has organized a cycle of gastronomic experiences featuring the best local talent in the field of gastronomy.
On Saturday, February 11, the first event of this gastronomic cycle took place in the local market of Lloret de Mar. A showcooking by Fran Agudo, chef of the Mont Bar restaurant in Barcelona and awarded as best chef 2022 by the Gastronomic Forum Barcelona.
On Saturday, March 4 at 11:30 a.m., there will be a wine tasting of Lloret de Mar’s wines by Melchor Montero, head waiter of the El Celler de Can Roca restaurant, in Girona.
On Saturday, March 11, at the same time, a daiquiri and tapas workshop will be held by gourmet Joan Pau Romaní and bartender Juan López Escalona, led by Amargura Cultura.
On Saturday, April 8, also at 11:30 a.m., this cycle of events at the Lloret de Mar local market will close with a showcooking by Zineb Hattab, chef of the Kle and Dar restaurants in Zurich and included in the prestigious list 50 Next 2022 Awards.
With the remodelling, which will begin this year, the new Lloret de Mar local market aims to become a new commercial and tourist attraction for the population, positioning itself as a benchmark in terms of sustainability and digitization.
The remodelling is financed through European Next Generation funds and has a budget of 2.5 million euros. The total constructed area will be more than 5,000 square meters, divided into 1,330 square meters on the ground floor and 175 on the first floor.
The ground floor will be occupied by commercial activity, with a supermarket of almost 400 square meters, a multipurpose room of 55 square meters and a local market with twelve establishments with a workshop and cold or freezing chamber and adjacent living spaces with tables and chairs.
While on the first floor there will be a gastronomic classroom, a space where all kinds of cooking, pastry or confectionery courses, tastings and pairings are held.
The façade of the building will be completely renovated, with a semi-transparent layer to blend the local market with the urban fabric and allow the interior to be seen from the outside and vice versa, acting as a claim.
