Get ready for the third edition of the Open water swimming crossing The Beaches of Lloret de Mar. Three kilometers in open water swimming from the beach of Lloret de Mar to the beach of Santa Cristina. Read on to learn more about the journey!
On Sunday, September 24, the III Open water swimming crossing the Beaches of Lloret de Mar will be held, a 3-kilometer swimming crossing from the beach of Lloret de Mar to the beach of Santa Cristina organized by the C.E. Club. Lloret Aigües Obertes.
The event is recommended to those over 18 years old, although participation is allowed to people over 16 years of age with authorization from the parent or guardian. The organization will determine if the minor can participate under strictly technical criteria.
To participate in this open water swimming crossing, it is mandatory to use the swimming cap provided by the visible organization, swimming goggles, a swimsuit and the timing chip provided by the organization placed on the ankle.
The use of aquatic watches or GPS and neoprene is permitted, but the use of aquatic MP3s or similar is not permitted, since they prevent correct hearing of the safety warnings.
Participants will have to swim from the beach of Lloret de Mar, in front of the town hall, to the beach of Santa Cristina, at the southern end of the town. During this journey, swimmers will visit some of the most emblematic coves and beaches of Lloret de Mar, such as Cala Banys, Fenals beach and Sa Boadella beach.
The route will be marked by buoys, located every 500 meters. Participants will have to swim between the buoys and the coast, leaving the buoys on the swimmer's left side. In front of the first swimmer will be the boat that will mark the direction of the crossing. The rest of the participants can be guided by the kayaks and paddle surfs with brightly colored vests, which will indicate the direction.
The maximum time to finish the journey is 2 hours. Once this time has passed, the registration will be closed. The organization will have support boats to assist participants who need it.
Registration for the swimming crossing is now open. The registration fee is €25 until 31 August and €30 from this date until the end of the registration period or the expiry of the registration deadline.
Registrations are limited to a maximum of 300 participants and the deadline to register for the race is 22 September at 23:59h. Register now on the Sportmaniacs’ website!
Registration for the race includes accident insurance, medical assistance throughout the race, the presence of evacuation boats, refreshments after the crossing, trophies for the winners of each category, cloakroom service, transfer from Santa Cristina to Lloret de Mar beach and free parking at the Obreria de Santa Cristina facilities.
The organisers reserve the right to modify the time slots and/or the initial route in the event of adverse conditions. In the event of cancellation by the participant, the registration fee will not be refunded. In the event of bad weather or causes beyond the organisation's control that force the cancellation of the crossing, the registration fee will not be refunded either, but a new date will be proposed.
The collection of the chip and swimmer's bag will take place on the day of the race, between 7:15am and 8am on Santa Cristina beach, although it will also be possible to collect it on Saturday 23 September from 6pm to 8pm on Fenals beach, next to the Planiol Restaurant. To do so, it will be essential to present the participant's DNI, NIE and/or passport.
Participants who need it will have free parking at the Obreria de Santa Cristina (Camí de Santa Cristina, 2, Lloret de Mar) before 7:30 a.m. and until 11 a.m. on presentation of proof of registration at the entrance.
Participants will be transferred by catamaran or bus from Santa Cristina beach to the starting area from 7:30 am. The start of the crossing will take place at 9 a.m. on Lloret de Mar beach, in front of the Town Hall.
Once the swim has finished, swimmers will be provided with refreshments and prizes will be awarded to the winners of the different categories.
