Get ready for the fourth edition of the Open water swimming crossing The Beaches of Lloret de Mar, with two exciting routes: 1.5km (Australian style) and 3km in open water, with the beaches of Lloret de Mar and Santa Cristina awaiting you for an unforgettable day at sea!
On Sunday 28 September, the V Open water swimming crossing the Beaches of Lloret de Mar will be held, organised by the C.E. Club. Lloret Aigües Obertes. This year, the event features two races for open water swimming enthusiasts: one 3,000 metres and one 1,500 metres. Although participants must be aged 18 or over, minors may also register provided they have written authorisation from their parents or guardians.
The first 3,000-metre event will start at 8:30 am from Lloret de Mar's iconic beach, right in front of the Town Hall. From the very first moment, you will be captivated by the beauty of the surroundings as you follow a route marked by buoys that will guide you between the coast and the open sea. This route, designed for both swimming enthusiasts and those looking for a personal challenge, has official chip timing and a maximum time of 2 hours to complete the course. Each stroke will be an opportunity to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Costa Brava.
But if you prefer a more relaxed experience, the 1,500-metre race will start at 10:00 am from Santa Cristina beach. The course will be a 750-metre triangle, which must be completed twice in Australian style: after the first lap, swimmers will briefly exit the water to circle a flag and then return to the course in the sea until the finish line. Although there will be no official timing, the club will manually record the finish times and share them on its Instagram account, so that each swimmer can relive the experience and share it with friends and family.
During both events, you will be accompanied by a guide boat with a raised balloon, while kayaks and paddle surfers will mark the direction to follow. These kayaks, equipped with brightly coloured waistcoats, together with swimmers with orange buoys and helium balloons, will be present to always guarantee your safety and orientation. Everything is ready for you to enjoy an unforgettable day in the waters of Lloret de Mar, surrounded by dreamlike landscapes and the serenity of the sea. Don't miss it!
Registration for the crossing is now open! Registration fees start from €20, and it is important to register before 31 August to take advantage of the reduced rates.
