Discover Sa Boadella beach, the most pristine beach on the Costa Brava

02.04.2025 Nature

Sa Boadella beach in Lloret de Mar is one of the best beaches on the Costa Brava and also one of the most pristine. Its natural setting, with crystal-clear waters, golden sand, and a rocky landscape surrounded by pine forests, make it a true Mediterranean paradise.

One of the best beaches in Spain, according to Condé Nast Traveller

Sa Boadella beach in Lloret de Mar has been chosen as one of the best beaches in Spain by Condé Nast Traveller magazine. Sa Boadella beach was the only Costa Brava beach mentioned in the article, although Tamarit beach and cala Jovera in Tamarit (Tarragona province), and Regueral beach and Cavet beach in Cambrils (Tarragona province) were also highlighted.

This list also includes cala Salada (in Ibiza), cala Saura (in Formentera), cala Fornells (in Mallorca), cala Pregonda (in Menorca), Ondarreta beach (in the Basque Country), Pechón beach (in Cantabria), Poo beach (in Asturias), praia de Lumebó (in Galicia), Gandía Beach and L’Ahuir beach (in the Valencian Community) and Maro beach (in Andalusia).

Sa Boadella Beach, in Lloret de Mar

Sa Boadella beach is a small beach located between Fenals Beach and Santa Cristina Beach, in the town of Lloret de Mar. This beach of golden sand and crystal-clear waters, nestled in a rocky setting and surrounded by pine forests at the foot of the Santa Clotilde Gardens, is one of the most pristine beaches on the Costa Brava.

Despite its proximity to the city center, its sheltered location makes it an ideal spot for those seeking a more intimate spot away from the hustle and bustle. This traditionally nudist beach, 250 meters long and 40 meters wide, welcomes all types of visitors looking to enjoy a virtually untouched landscape.

The seabed is shallow for the first few meters and filled with rocks as you enter the water. Beneath the cliffs of the Santa Clotilde Gardens, between Es Bot Island and Punta d'En Sureda, the clear waters allow you to discover schools of fish, starfish, and other marine life among the islets.

sa boadella cove rocks lloret de mar

The cove is divided into two parts by a rock (Sa Roca des Mig), which divides the sand into two beaches: one called sa Cova (although there is no cave in the cove) and the other called sa Boadella. Today, this distinction has almost disappeared, and the entire beach is known as Sa Boadella.

The beach has the Blue Flag distinction, an award given annually by the Environmental Education Foundation to beaches that meet a series of environmental conditions and facilities, including showers with foot washes and even a beach bar.

With its natural beauty and paradisiacal atmosphere, Sa Boadella beach has been the setting for major international film productions. Among them is Sahara, directed by Breck Eisner and starring Penélope Cruz and Matthew McConaughey, whose final scenes were filmed in this unique location. More recently, Sa Boadella was transformed into an exotic Southeast Asian cove for the filming of Uncharted, the film adaptation of the successful video game series directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

How to get to Sa Boadella Beach?

Sa Boadella beach is one of the least accessible beaches in Lloret de Mar. To get there, leave your car on the road leading to the Santa Cristina hermitage and continue on foot along a path through a forest for just over 200 meters until you reach this heavenly cove.
