Costa Brava has more than two hundred kilometers of coastline from Portbou to Blanes. It is characterized by its rugged and rugged landscape and for hosting some of the most beautiful coves on the peninsula. In this post we discover some of the most charming coves on the Costa Brava.

1. Cala Jugadora, Cadaqués

Cala Jugadora is located in Cap de Creus, very close to the lighthouse and just seven kilometers north of Cadaqués.

It is a very small cove, about 15 meters long, usually frequented by couples and hikers. A cozy little corner of sand sheltered from the tramontana with totally crystal clear waters that house an extensive Posidonia meadow.

The easiest way to get to this wild cove is from the Cap de Creus lighthouse. You have to walk down the dry bed of the stream and, before reaching the shore, turn off to the right.

2. Cala de l'Illa Roja, Begur

To the north of the municipality of Begur is Cala de l'Illa Roja. It is located under a cliff, in an idyllic setting between rocks and pine trees.

It is about 150 meters long, covered with thick golden sand. Its name comes from the prominent reddish rocky islet that presides over it and which, depending on the tides, is either attached to the sand or floating very close to the beach.

It is a fairly quiet cove without too many crowds. It is accessed through a beautiful walk along the Camino de Ronda that goes between Sa Riera beach, in Begur, and Racó beach, in Pals.
