From 14th June to 10th August a new edition of the PortalBlau Festival will be held in L'Escala and Empúries, a unique cultural event on the Costa Brava that combines music, dance, thought, circus and photography in highly valued heritage sites. Venues such as the Mar d'en Manassa, the Alfolí de la Sal, the Greek Wall and the Roman Forum host a programme that connects with the Mediterranean and its cultures.
This year, the line-up includes outstanding performances by Blaumut, Ramon Mirabet, Las Migas, Cala Vento, Pau Vallvé, Valeria Castro and La Ludwig Band, among others. In addition, the festival includes the Mirades Blaves cycle of thought, with figures such as Josep Ramoneda, and an exhibition of the MedFoto photography competition, which invites reflection on the relationship between the sea and people. PortalBlau reaffirms its commitment to culture as a space for meeting, memory and transformation.
The 63rd edition of the Porta Ferrada Festival will be held from 12 July to 20 August at the Guíxols Arena in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The festival will feature local artists and big names from the international scene.
Among the most outstanding artists on the bill are the prestigious Brad Mehldau Trio, the legendary rock band Europe, the virtuoso French pianist Sofiane Pamart, the renowned dancer Sara Baras, the iconic Umberto Tozzi, Els Pets, Miguel Poveda, Ginestà, Guitarricadelafuente and Rosario, along with many others who will fill Sant Feliu de Guíxols with music and talent this summer.
The 25th edition of the Cap Roig Festival, which will be held from 12 July to 19 August in the emblematic Cap Roig Gardens, presents an eclectic line-up to suit all tastes. This year the festival's commitment to solidarity remains firm, with part of the proceeds going to local projects in Girona and the Baix Empordà.
The most eagerly awaited concerts include international artists such as Simple Minds, Sebastián Yatra, UB40 feat. Ali Campbell, James Blunt, Tom Jones, Rosario, Franz Ferdinand, Antonio Orozco and The Tyets, who will be giving a benefit performance on 20 July. The closing concert, on 19 August, will be given by the singer Michael Bublé.
The programme also includes the Cap Roig Mini cycle, aimed at families, which on 2 August will feature the musical show El Pot Petit, accompanied by the Black Music Big Band. In addition, the festival's Village will offer a select gastronomic proposal prepared by the prestigious chefs Sergio and Javier Torres.
The town of Roses will host the Festival Sons del Món from July 25 to August 10. The performances will be held in such emblematic places as the Ciutadella de Roses venue.
This year artists such as Zaz, The Beach Boys, Trueno, Rosario, Kool & The Gang, Sopa de Cabra and Els Pets, Figa Flawas and Mushkaa, Ja T'ho Diré and Oques Grasses, among others, will be performing on the stage.
The cycle also offers intimate concerts in Empordà wineries, with performances by Manu Chao, Andrea Motis & Josep Traver, Judit Martín and Judit Neddermann & Pau Figueres, fusing music and wine tourism. The proposal is completed with the Village space, where the public can enjoy DJ sets, local gastronomy and open-air acoustic concerts before and after the main shows.
The medieval complex of Peralada Castle, in the Empordà town of Peralada, will be the setting for the Castell de Peralada Festival, which will take place from 3 to 18 July. The concerts will be held in the auditorium in the gardens of the Parc Castell, while the recitals, chamber concerts and small-scale operas will take place in the church and cloister.
The festival programme covers a wide variety of genres, including opera, classical music, flamenco and theatre, with a clear commitment to excellence in the artistic proposals of opera and dance. This unique initiative not only supports and disseminates music, but also promotes its own production, the promotion of new talents and support for composers, as well as the participation of outstanding artists and companies.
