South Costa Brava Carnival 2026

From 13 to 28 February, the town councils of BlanesLloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar will be celebrating the South Costa Brava Carnival. This was created in 2012 with the aim of jointly promoting and coordinating one of the most popular festivals in the towns of the southern Costa Brava, the Carnival. The most popular event is the carnival parade, which attracts more than 120,000 spectators and involves more than 1,000 participants every year. 

The first parade will be in Lloret de Mar, taking place on Saturday 14th February at 4:30 pm and Sunday 15th February at 12 pm; It will continue in the town of Blanes on Sunday 15 February at 5 pm, and the last one will be held in Tossa de Mar two weeks later, on Saturday 28 February at 4:30 pm.

The town councils of these towns will offer subsidies to the floats and troupes participating in the carnival, as well as prizes for the best floats, troupes, individual costumes and small groups. In addition to the parade, there will be a programme of different activities related to this festival during these days.

Carnival Parade in Lloret de Mar

In Lloret de MarCarnival arrives with a programme full of activities for all ages and several noteworthy new features. The celebrations kick off on Thursday 12 February at 4:30 pm with Carnival in Can Carbó, a family party with creative workshops, a circus show, a parade, batucada drumming and a popular hot chocolate party.

On Friday 13 February, the traditional workplace costume contest will take place, with decorations in shops and offices, followed by the arrival of the King of Carnival and a concert in the Plaça de la Vila. On Saturday14 February, the costume contest will be held in the morning, and at 4:30 pm., the Grand Carnival Parade will wind its way through the main avenues of the municipality. At 7:30 pm., the first Carnival karaoke contest will be held, one of the great new features of this edition.

The festivities will continue on Sunday 15 February at 12 pm with the Grand Parade ‘El Sarau de Carnaval’, designed as a day of popular participation, and will end on Wednesday 18 February at 7 pm with the traditional Burial of the Sardine, which will bring Carnival to a close with the reading of the will, dancing and a cigronada (a traditional dish of sardines and breadcrumbs). 

 

Carnival Parade in Blanes

Blanes will celebrate Carnival with a full programme of activities from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th February, designed for all audiences and with events spread throughout the weekend.

On Friday 13th February, the festivities will kick off at 5:30 pm with the Youth Carnival and the arrival of the King of Carnival, in a parade from Sa Palomera to Dies Feiners, accompanied by the Diables Sa Forcanera. From 6 pm., there will be hot chocolate and popular activities in Plaça Dies Feiners, and in the evening there will be a night parade through the centre with the Xaranga Xaranganín, followed by a concert by Dinastia Z and a DJ session.

Saturday 14th February will be especially dedicated to children, with workshops and children's entertainment from 5 pm to 8 pm in Dies Feiners. At 6:15 pm there will be a children's costume contest, with a parade and prize-giving at 7:45 pm, in a family-friendly and festive atmosphere.

On Sunday 15 February at 5 pm, the main event of the Carnival will take place with the parade of floats and dance troupes, which will travel along the Joaquim Ruyra promenade to Plaça Països Catalans, next to S'Abanell beach, putting the finishing touch to one of the liveliest carnivals on the Costa Brava.

Carnival Parade in Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar will celebrate Carnival from Friday 13th to Saturday 28th February, with activities for all ages.

On Friday 13th February, at 3 pm, the children's parade from the Ignasi Melé i Farré school will begin, giving centre stage to the little ones.

On Saturday 14th February, there will be a costume contest in the shops, the opening speech and Xoxa parade by bicycle from Can Paset to Bar Josep, and in the evening, the 5th night parade from Plaça Concòrdia to Passeig de Mar, accompanied by the Txaranga Damm-er. And on Sunday 15 February, at 11:30 am, there will be a children's party in Plaça Antic Hospital with musical entertainment.

On Wednesday 18 February, at 4:30 pm, the traditional Burial of the Sardine will take place, with a parade, symbolic burning, prize-giving and hot chocolate.

On Saturday 28 February, at 11a.m., there will be a senior parade on Avinguda Ferran Agulló, and in the afternoon, the Grand Carnival Afterparty Parade, followed by the Sambòdromawards gala and after-party at the Municipal Pavilion.
