South Costa Brava Carnival 2025

South Costa Brava Carnival 2025

20.02.2025 Activities in Lloret Local festivities

From 28th February to 15th March, the municipalities of Lloret de Mar, Blanes and Tossa de Mar will celebrate the eleventh edition of the South Costa Brava Carnival.

The Carnival of the Costa Brava Sur was created in 2012 with the aim of jointly promoting and coordinating one of the most popular festivals in the towns of the southern Costa Brava, the Carnival. The most massive event is the Carnival parade, which is attended every year by more than 120,000 spectators and more than 1,000 people participate.

The first parade will take place in Lloret de Mar on Saturday 1 March at 5 p.m and Sunday 2 March at 12 p.m; it will continue in the town of Blanes on Sunday 2 March at 5 pm, and the last one will be held in Tossa de Mar two weeks later, on Saturday 15 March at 4.30 pm.

The town councils of these towns will offer sub sidies to the floats and troupes that participate in the carnival, as well as prizes for the best floats, troupes, individual costumes and small groups. In addition to the carnival parade, during these days a program will be offered with different activities related to this festivity.

Carnival parade in Lloret de Mar

Carnival in Lloret de Mar comes with some important new features. This year, the carnival parade will only be held on Saturday 1 March at 5 p.m, and will be the only day of the procession and float competition, unlike in previous years.

On Sunday 2 March at 12 p.m, instead of the traditional carnival parade, the Sarau de Carnaval will take place, a day of popular participation with subsidies for the participating groups. The aim of this change is to allow a greater participation of groups from other municipalities and to raise the level of the parade.

In addition, as always, there will be a street costume competition (for children under and over 12 years old) and the traditional costume competition at the workplaces on 28 February, where prizes will be awarded for both the creativity of the costumes and the setting of the place. Check out the carnival programme on the official Lloret de Mar website.

Carnival parade in Tossa de Mar

In Tossa de Mar, the Carnival parade will take place two weeks later, on Saturday 15 March at 4:30 p.m., which will begin on Rambla Joan Maragall with Avenida Ferran Agulló and will pass along Avenida Catalunya to the town's fire station.

In addition, on 1 March there will be a competition at the work station and a fancy dress competition during the night-time parade, and on 2 March, a children's fancy dress competition. To find out more about the programme, visit the Tossa de Mar Town Hall website.
